Domane Wachau

Austria

Girolamro.png
About

We are the only estate in the entire Wachau region to nurture parcels in every well-known single vineyard of the Wachau. The wines, in their individuality, express perfectly the character of renowned single vineyard sites such as Loibenberg, Achleiten, 1000-Eimer-Berg, Singerriedel and Kellerberg. Vineyard terraces with dry stone walls are an essential part – and, in fact, a hallmark – of the terroirs of the Wachau.

Fuhrgassl Huber

Austria

Girolamro.png
About

The traditional foundation of the winery came from Ernst Huber, who, together with his wife Gerti, also completely reinterpreted the concept of the Viennese Heurigen in the 1970s: the 'Fuhrgassl-Huber' soon developed with its diversely designed rooms and magnificent guest garden a trademark for the typical 'Viennese conviviality' - as autochthonous as the Viennese wine itself.

The family commitment to wine culture is now being continued by grandson Thomas Huber with professional competence and enthusiasm. With his state winner in the category 'strong mixed set 2011', he already clearly showed where the path will continue to lead: the vinification of wines typical of the region with high quality standards without neglecting the necessary balance between nature and modern cellar technology.

Weingut Ludwig Neumayer

Austria

Girolamro.png
About

When Ludwig Neumayer decided in the 1980s to continue his parents' farm as a winery, the Traisental wine-growing region did not exist. Together with his brother Karl, he had big plans: he wanted to tell the story of his vines, give the wine individuality and virtuosity. It didn't take long before the modest Traisental found itself in reviews by Robert Parker, Decanter and other well-known publications thanks to Ludwig and Karl Neumayer - the beginning of an unlikely success story.

FX Pichler

Austria

Girolamro.png
About

The F.X. Pichler family wine estate is now in its seventh generation. Lucas Franz Pichler (*1973) and his wife Johanna Elisabeth (*1982) currently manage the winery, with Lucas Franz in the role of managing director, wine grower and oenologist, and Johanna Elisabeth being in charge of sales, marketing and export.

Franz Xaver (*1941) and Rudolfine (*1951) Pichler are still actively involved in the family business and can be found working in the vineyards, which they cultivate with dedication and experience.

The family can look back on a long tradition of winemaking. During the middle of the 19th century, the winegrower Franz Pichler II moved his family from the wine-growing village of Rohrendorf near Krems to the Wachau Valley. His grandson Franz Pichler VI later acquired a property in Oberloiben, in commune of Dürnstein, in the year 1898. It was in this very wine cellar in Oberloiben No. 27, that global wine success was written right up until the 2008 vintage.

Kracher Winery

Austria

Girolamro.png
About

The Weinlaubenhof Kracher is located in the "Seewinkel" in the Austrian Burgenland. Botrytis cinerea, the basis for fantastic sweet wines such as Beerenauslese and Trockenbeerenauslese, is produced where the evaporation at the lake, the evening fog and the warm Pannonian climate mean that there are constantly warm and humid weather changes.

From the Welschriesling, Chardonnay, Traminer, Scheurebe, Muskat-Ottonel and now and then Zweigelt grape varieties, Alois Kracher creates 10 to 15 different Trockenbeerenauslese in two different aging styles every year.

"Between the lakes" is the name of those wines that are matured in large wooden barrels or stainless steel tanks and show the classic style of the region. The wines of the "Nouvelle Vague" line are vinified in new barriques. They are characterized by depth, flavor and sustainability.

Gerhard Kracher is now running the winery with the same dedication and dynamism as his father.

The range of what is undoubtedly the best-known Austrian winery includes not only the world-famous Trockenbeerenauslese, but also Beerenauslese, Auslese, ice wine and small quantities of dry white and red wine.

Wein-Gut Nigl

Austria

Girolamro.png
About

The Wein-Gut Nigl hotel and restaurant are located in the Krems Valley - picturesque at the foot of the Senftenberger Kirchenberg. The former reading court of Prince Starhemberg dates to the 12th century and was taken over by the Nigl family in 1994 and used as a winery.

The focus of our vineyards in the Krems Valley, lies in producing Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, with Sauvignon Blanc and Muskateller completing the wine selection. Blauer Zweigelt and Merlot are cultivated in the lime-containing loess layers of the Krems-area, while Pinot Noir finds its optimal conditions in the vineyard Pfenningberg, a very steep mica schist. Our Rieslings and Grüner Veltliners represent top quality from Austria: wines rich in elegance and finesse from Kremstal.

Weingut Hannes Sabathi

Austria

Girolamro.png
About

Wine was always a part of the bigger picture in the mixed agriculture. Over the years its importance grew and Hannes put wine more and more in the spotlight. Along that way nobody interfered or interrupted, but it goes without saying that nothing comes from nothing. So in a way he built on the ideas and experiences of others, almost like standing on the shoulders of giants.

No wonder that Hannes’ inspiration came externally, from people that moved and accompanied him and were part of the maturing of his idea of wine. They are the ones that are not surprised or worried when he starts digging holes in the vineyards, for the simple reason to be closer to his vines and soils.

Successes are neither extraordinary nor mysterious. They are the result of good teamwork, special opportunities and the ability to recognise them.

Weingut Topf

Austria

Girolamro.png
About

It’s a long time from the start of a vintage’s vegetation period to the filled bottle. During this time, it’s the interplay between people and nature that determines the quality of our wines. This is the only way for the winemaker’s unmistakable signature to be able to develop in the bottle. For us, one of the most important decisions is to only interfere with nature in a very limited and targeted way. Long exposure to yeast and the right choice of fermentation and storage casks contribute to how this signature manifests itself.

A well-considered selection of fruit wood, so as not to obstruct the channels for the vine’s sap, and maintaining species-rich vegetation that has a positive effect on the stock of useful plants, are among some of our most important ideas.
